Today, the Energy Community Secretariat launched a special report on the state of gas market integration in the Energy Community for the Central and South-Eastern European Gas Connectivity (CESEC) High Level Group Meeting. The report will be presented by Director Kopač at the group’s meeting in Bucharest tomorrow.
The report provides an overview of the current status of implementation of the Third Energy Package as well as actual market development in the Contracting Parties with operational gas markets, namely: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Moldova, Serbia and Ukraine.
In addition to national developments, the report also covers activities directed towards regional market integration, namely implementation of EU gas network codes and guidelines in the Contracting Parties as foreseen by Energy Community Gas Action 2020. The report also deals with progress related to interconnection agreements between the transmission system operators of the Contracting Parties and neighbouring EU Member States.
With respect to the gas interconnector between Bulgaria and Serbia, a priority project under both CESEC and the Energy Community, the report outlines the current state of play of the project’s realisation, which has been stalled due to the lack of political will.
